HQ Shred Fest 2025 — What a Day!
Date: 08th June 2025
The first ever HQ Shred Fest went down at Skate Molton CIC HQ, and what a day it was! A few hundred spectators packed the building and courtyard while skaters from all corners brought the hype on scooters, skateboards, inline and quad skates.
The Competitions
We ran three competitions across both the street course and mini ramp, covering skateboarding, scootering and roller/inline skating.
Although no quad or inline skaters entered the comps, Ant from Bristol turned heads with an unreal display of extreme inline skating. From hucking himself off the balcony fence into the mini ramp to sketchy grinds and fence stalls — it was wild!
Scooter Comp
The scooter competition was a crowd-pleaser, despite low entries. With incredible skills on show, only 1st and 2nd places were awarded:
1st Place: Chase — bagged new scooter wheels, grips, a Blunt sticker pack, Skate Molton beanie, and more goodies courtesy of Blunt Scooters and Patinar Skate Co.
2nd Place: Skye — scooped up new grips, Blunt stickers and more.
Skateboard Comp
This was the busiest comp of the day, with even more skaters jumping in after gaps in the other comps.
1st Place: Sam
2nd Place: Finley
3rd Place: Bodhi
Prizes included complete setups, bearings, hardware, beanies, and more thanks to Skatewarehouse and Skate Molton CIC.
BBQ, Shop Launch & MC Hype
Plenty of burgers and hot dogs were grilled up, the weather held out, and we even launched our brand new skate shop Slam Skate Shop and apparel brand SKATE FREAK. All our gear is available online too at shop.skatemolton.co.uk
A massive shoutout to Jason from Slam Roller Skate for keeping the vibe alive as our MC all day long.
The Judges
Three judges scored the competitions on Style & Flow, Difficulty, Creativity, and Consistency, each out of 10. The highest combined score from street and mini ramp crowned the winners.
Judges on the day:
Nick from Patinar Skate Co
James (J) from Skate Molton CIC
Paul Daw — our resident quad skate coach
What We Learnt
Being our first ever Shred Fest, it was a huge learning experience. We realised the need for age categories, discipline-specific events, and longer event days — which is why we’re already planning to turn next year’s HQ Shred Fest into a 3-day event!
Day 1: Quad Skating
Day 2: Scootering
Day 3: Skateboarding
With categories like freestyle, mini ramp, footwork/dance (for quads), best trick, and best slam — it’s going to be huge!
We also learnt how vital a clear, visible schedule is for everyone, so we’ll have big displays of proceedings and timings next time around.
Save the Date!
Because this event was such a hit, we’re throwing open our doors again on Saturday 21st June, 12 noon–5pm for a free-entry open day with BBQ, shop, café and good times all round.
Come and get involved — we’ll see you there!
